Akfix 900N Neutral Mirror Adhesive 310ml — Authorized Akfix Distributor, Kenya

Available now at Startcore Ventures, your authorized Akfix sealants and adhesives distributor on Ngara Road, Nairobi — KES 1,100 inclusive of VAT for the 310ml cartridge, in stock, with full manufacturer traceability and Kenya-wide delivery. 900N is the workhorse mirror adhesive for bathroom fitters, interior fit-out contractors, glaziers, hotel and office fit-out teams, and retail-display installers across Kenya.

Akfix 900N Price in Kenya and Pack Sizes

Akfix 900N price in Kenya: KES 1,100 inclusive of VAT for the 310ml cartridge. Firm quote, no hidden costs, no "call for price" games.

Pack configuration:

  • 310ml standard cartridge, fits a standard skeleton gun
  • 25 cartridges per outer carton
  • 600ml sausage foil packs available on special order — call for pricing

Product identification:

  • Manufacturer: Akkim Yapı Kimyasalları (Akfix is a Turkish brand distributed globally)
  • Product line: Akfix Specialist Silicone Sealants
  • Grade: 900N (neutral-cure, mirror-grade silicone adhesive)
  • Chemistry: Neutral-cure silicone (oxime-free or low-oxime — confirm on TDS for specific lot)
  • Cure system: Moisture cure (cures from the surface inward by reaction with atmospheric moisture)

Akfix 900N Kenya pricing at Startcore is competitive against parallel imports, and every cartridge is sourced direct from Akfix's authorized East African distribution channel. If a quote comes in far below ours, the product is almost certainly expired stock being resold as fresh, parallel-imported grey-market product without traceability, or refilled cartridges from unbranded silicone. Akfix 900N has a defined shelf life and a batch-traceable certificate — we provide both on request.

Akfix 900N Specifications

Akfix 900N technical data — typical values, manufacturer-rated, from the 900N Technical Data Sheet (TDS):

  • Chemistry: Neutral-cure silicone (specifically formulated to be non-corrosive to mirror backing and sensitive metals)
  • Colour: Translucent (clear) — does not yellow significantly with age
  • Density: Approximately 1.00 – 1.05 g/cm³ at 25°C
  • Consistency: Smooth, thixotropic paste (non-sag on vertical joints)
  • Application temperature: +5°C to +40°C (surface and ambient)
  • Service temperature: -40°C to +150°C (cured)
  • Skin formation time: 5 – 10 minutes (at 23°C, 50% RH)
  • Cure rate: 2 – 3 mm per 24 hours (at 23°C, 50% RH)
  • Full cure: 5 – 7 days depending on bead thickness, humidity, and temperature
  • Tensile strength: Approximately 1.0 – 1.5 MPa (depending on substrate and conditions)
  • Elongation at break: Approximately 200 – 300%
  • Hardness (Shore A): Approximately 25 – 35
  • Movement capability: ±25% (high-movement, flexible, neutral-cure silicone)
  • Paintability: No — neutral-cure silicone is not paintable (use Akfix AS606 acrylic sealant if painting is required)
  • Mirror-backing compatibility: Excellent — does not attack, stain, or delaminate standard mirror backings
  • UV resistance: Excellent
  • Water resistance: Excellent once fully cured
  • Container: 310ml standard HDPE cartridge with peel-off nozzle
  • Shelf life: 12 months from date of manufacture in unopened original container
  • Storage: Store at +5°C to +35°C in original container, away from direct sunlight

Akfix 900N specifications make it the right adhesive for mirror installation, glazed tile bonding, and any application where the substrate has a sensitive reflective or coated backing that would be attacked by acetic-cure (acetoxy) silicone. For general-purpose silicone sealing (without mirror backing), a standard acetic-cure silicone (Akfix 100E) is sufficient — but it MUST NOT be used on mirrors because the acetic acid will attack the silver backing and cause black-edge corrosion or full delamination within months.

What the Akfix 900N Is Built For

The Akfix 900N is the workhorse neutral-cure mirror adhesive. Use it for:

Bathroom and interior mirror installation:

  • Bonding bathroom mirrors to tiled, plastered, painted, or concrete walls.
  • Bonding full-length wardrobe mirrors to bedroom or dressing-room walls.
  • Bonding decorative wall mirrors to feature walls in living rooms and lobbies.
  • Bonding mirrored splashbacks in kitchens and vanity units.

Glass and glazed tile installation:

  • Bonding glazed ceramic tiles to walls as a panel system (where a mechanical-fix adhesive is required).
  • Bonding glass blocks to feature walls.
  • Bonding glass panels to partitions or shower enclosures where a flexible adhesive is required.
  • Bonding glass shelving to walls (where mechanical support is also provided).

Retail display and commercial fit-out:

  • Bonding mirror panels to retail display walls.
  • Bonding glass signage and decorative panels.
  • Bonding display-case glass to frames.
  • Bonding mirrored wardrobe doors to frames.

General bonding:

  • Bonding metal panels (aluminium, stainless steel) to walls or partitions where the silicone must not corrode the metal.
  • Bonding PVC and plastic trims where a flexible adhesive is required.
  • Any application where a flexible, waterproof, neutral-cure silicone adhesive is required.

NOT recommended for:

  • Structural glazing (use Akfix structural silicone specifically rated for structural glazing — call 0705544817 to discuss).
  • Aquariums and potable water tanks (use a specific aquarium-safe or NSF/ANSI 61 potable-water silicone — call to discuss).
  • Food-contact applications (use a specific NSF H1 food-grade silicone).
  • Applications where paintability is required (silicones are not paintable — use Akfix AS606 acrylic instead).
  • Direct mirror-to-mirror bonding (silicone does not adhere well to the mirror face — bond mirror backing to substrate only).

Genuine Akfix 900N vs Counterfeit: What to Check

Counterfeit and expired mirror adhesives are common in the Kenyan construction supply market. A cartridge of fake or generic silicone labelled as mirror adhesive will attack the silver backing of the mirror within months, causing black-edge corrosion, silver delamination, and complete mirror failure. Before you buy Akfix 900N in Kenya, verify the following:

  1. Akfix batch number and date code printed on every cartridge. The format is a multi-character batch code with manufacture date. No batch code or no expiry = reject the cartridge.
  2. Certificate of Analysis (CoA) available on request for the specific batch — confirms density, viscosity, and Shore A hardness.
  3. Cartridge and label quality — genuine Akfix cartridges are HDPE with a clean, crisp Akfix label including the Akkim branding, "Neutral Cure" wording, hazard pictograms, and product code. Counterfeits have fuzzy, off-colour, or mis-spelled labels, and the cartridge is often a generic no-name tube with an Akfix label stuck on.
  4. Colour and consistency — genuine 900N is translucent (clear), smooth, and thixotropic. Expired product is lumpy, separated, or has a hard skin in the cartridge. Counterfeits may be cloudy, yellowed, or completely different chemistry (often cheap acetic-cure silicone rebadged — which WILL attack mirror backings).
  5. Smell — genuine neutral-cure silicone has a mild, almost neutral smell during application. Acetic-cure silicone has a strong vinegar smell (acetic acid). If your "mirror adhesive" smells like vinegar, it is acetic-cure and will damage mirrors — return it.
  6. Cure test — apply a bead to a piece of scrap glass, allow 24 hours, then try to peel the bead off. Genuine 900N will cure to a flexible, clear rubber with strong adhesion to glass. Counterfeit or expired product may remain soft, crumbly, or peel cleanly off the substrate.
  7. Mirror backing test — apply a small bead to the back of a mirror scrap, allow 24 hours, then peel off. Genuine 900N will leave the mirror backing intact. Acetic-cure silicone will leave a brown/black corrosion mark on the mirror backing. NEVER apply untested silicone to a mirror you cannot afford to lose.
  8. Distributor supply — only an authorized Akfix distributor like Startcore can issue a tax invoice tied to the manufacturer batch records. If your seller cannot produce a CoA or trace the batch, walk away.

Startcore supplies every cartridge of original Akfix 900N Nairobi with a tax invoice, the manufacturer's batch code, and a CoA on request. We rotate stock by FIFO (first in, first out) to ensure the longest remaining shelf life ships first.

Akfix 900N — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Akfix 900N price in Kenya? KES 1,100 inclusive of VAT for the 310ml cartridge at Startcore Ventures, Nairobi. Trade pricing available for high-volume users and monthly contracts. Carton (25-cartridge) pricing on application. Larger 600ml sausage foil packs available on special order. Call 0705544817 for a quote.

Is the Akfix 900N available in Nairobi right now? Yes. The 310ml cartridge is in stock at our Ngara Road store. You can collect same-day, or we can arrange Kenya-wide delivery. For bulk orders (carton quantities), call ahead on 0705544817 so we can confirm quantity and reserve stock.

Can I use Akfix 900N to bond a bathroom mirror? Yes — this is the primary 900N application. Apply vertical beads of 900N to the back of the mirror (typically 6mm wide x 100mm long beads, every 15–20cm), press firmly to the wall, and support with temporary tape or props for 24 hours while the silicone cures. Do NOT use acetic-cure silicone (Akfix 100E or generic silicone) on mirrors — the acetic acid will attack the silver backing and cause black-edge corrosion or full delamination.

How long does Akfix 900N take to cure? Skin formation is 5 – 10 minutes at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. Cure rate is 2 – 3 mm per 24 hours. Full cure is 5 – 7 days depending on bead thickness, humidity, and temperature. The mirror should be supported with tape or props for at least 24 hours before being loaded. Do not expose the bond to water (shower splash, etc.) for at least 24 hours after installation.

How much 900N do I need for one mirror? A 310ml cartridge typically bonds a mirror of 0.5 – 1.0 m² depending on bead size and substrate profile. For a standard 600mm x 800mm bathroom mirror, one cartridge is usually sufficient. For larger full-length mirrors, plan one cartridge per 1.0 m² of mirror. The bead should be 6–10mm wide and applied vertically every 15–20cm across the back of the mirror.

Can Akfix 900N be used on glass tiles? Yes — 900N is suitable for bonding glass tiles, glass blocks, and glazed ceramic tiles to walls as a panel system. For heavy glass panels, mechanical support or additional fixing is recommended in addition to the silicone bond.

Can Akfix 900N be painted? No. Neutral-cure silicone is not paintable — paint will not adhere to cured silicone and will fish-eye or peel. If a paintable finish is required over the bonded joint, use a paintable acrylic sealant (Akfix AS606) on the perimeter after the 900N has cured. For purely paintable sealant applications where mirror compatibility is not a concern, use Akfix AS606 acrylic sealant throughout.

What is the difference between 900N and Akfix 100E silicone? 900N is a neutral-cure silicone — non-corrosive, safe on mirrors, glazed tiles, sensitive metals, and electronic components. 100E is an acetic-cure silicone — strong initial tack, faster cure, but releases acetic acid during cure which will attack mirror backings, marble, natural stone, and some metals. For mirrors and glazed tiles, use 900N. For general construction sealing (bathroom fittings, kitchen sinks, glazing) where mirror backing is not involved, 100E is fine and slightly cheaper.

What is the shelf life of Akfix 900N? 12 months from the date of manufacture in unopened original container, stored at +5°C to +35°C. The batch code and date are printed on every cartridge. We rotate stock by FIFO and ship the longest remaining shelf life first. Once a cartridge is opened and the nozzle is cut, use within 24 hours or replace the nozzle cap to slow skin formation.

Do you deliver Akfix 900N outside Nairobi? Yes. We deliver Kenya-wide. Same-day in Nairobi, next-day to Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, and all major towns. Delivery cost depends on location and order size. Cash on delivery available for verified trade accounts. Call 0705544817 for a delivery quote.
